HEALTHIER CHOICES, BETTER LIVES
One thing that has really changed in my life is
my way of eating and my own life style. Seven years ago, in 2007, my weight was
142 kg. I don´t know how I reached that situation, but that was the truth. I
decided to lose weight and achieve a healthy body. So I looked for help with
experts. Precisely there is a program at UADY for helping their teachers and
students to change their habits related with food and exercise: “Nutre y mueve
tu vida” (in Spanish). Before that, I
used to eat junk food, in small portions, but very frequently. In addition, I
used to drink beers each weekend with my friends. When the medical staff told
me how many calories beer has, I understood why my weight reached that high
level. I needed to change: less high calorie- content food and beers and more
exercise. At first it was difficult because I wasn’t used to buy vegetables
frequently but I learned how to mix different types of “good” foods to prepare
delicious meals. With exercise I didn´t have problems, because I really enjoy
walking on the streets. In the end I achieved a partial victory: my weight is
120 kg, now. The goal is still far, but I know I am in the correct way.
