Good morning everybody!
I hope you are making progress with your Worksheets and book work. Don't forget to check the Answer Keys to correct your work.
Today we do not have to work on new Grammar topics. We have to learn some more expressions to ask and give directions and to show/check understanding.
I will also ask you to do the DVD exercises.
So, to start go to he following link to review/practice how to ask/give directions:
https://learnenglishteens.britishcouncil.org/skills/listening/elementary-a2-listening/giving-directions
At this page you will find a map and a listening activity.
Under the map, choose the option:
"Check your understanding gap fill typing" option so the questionaire appears below and you write your answers on it.
The audio is in the Class Materials Folder, in case you need it.
You need to follow directions and find the place where they take you.
When you finish go to book page 52. Remember Juan Oliveira, the tourist guide who visits three countries each day?
Well, go to "FUNCTION" exercise 3A and before you listen to the directions to get to different places, observe the map, identify the tourist and play the audio. Listen to directions and find out which places the tourist is going.
Then go to exercise 4 on page 53. You have to match the phrases to the pictures. Read all the expressions in the box. If you have any doubts, use the group's chat for help. Everybody can participate in figuring out the meaning for all the expressions. Then, do the exercise.
When you finish that,go to exercise 5A, it is a Listening Comprehension activity.
I am also including a copy of the audio in the Class Material folder (Unit 5 Recording 5) and complete exercises A and B.
Next, go to page 137 and do exercises 5.3 A and B.
I will send you the Answer Keys so you can check your answers.
Finally, go to exercise 6A page 53. Use audio 5.6. Read and listen. Pay attention to the phrases in bold letters. What you have to do is to decide how are these phrases used:
(A) to ask for information
(E) to explain directions
(U) to show understanding
Write the most appropriate letter at the end of the line.
After that, do exercise 6B, you just need to match the phrases to the following meanings:
1. Am I going on the right direction?
